Alghero Airport (Fertilia) 

Alghero Fertilia airport is close to the city, just 10km away, and about 33km from Sassari, the province’s capital. You can get there by car, taxi or public transport. 

There are authorized parking areas, with prices depending on the length of stay. The bus stop (urban and with connections to other cities) and the taxi are at the entrance and exit of the airport terminal.

The prominent companies that operate in Alghero are low-cost, such as Ryanair or Wizzair, although there are Alitalia flights with some cities on the peninsula. Alghero airport has car rental.

How to get to Alghero airport

The airport can be reached by urban bus from the center of Alghero or other cities in Sardinia (Sassari, Bosa, Stintino, Nuoro, Santa Teresa Gallura). The ARST (Azienda Regionale Sarda Trasporti) is the company that manages them. From Cagliari, the best option to get to the airport is the Logudoro private company buses that leave from the Cagliari bus station in Piazza Matteotti.

Timetables are available at the exit of the terminal, on the right-hand side, about 150 meters away. In Alghero, you can buy and get on the bus to the airport Via Catalogna, the start and end of the line. The departure frequency is every ten minutes until 11:00 p.m., although they may have a lower rate in winter.

Tortolì-Arbatax Airport 

The airport is located on the eastern coast of Sardinia, about 140 km from Cagliari, rising above Tortoli and its port extension of Arbatax. Its excellent strategic location with more than 5,000 accommodation positions between hotel structures, hostels, and B&Bs have allowed air traffic to exceed 50,000 passengers annually.

The best connections are with Rome and Milan, especially in summer when lines from European airports are open.

Cagliari Airport 

Cagliari airport, known as Elmas airport, is located 6 kilometers northwest of the city center. Elmas airport absorbs the most traffic on the island regarding the number of travelers and air traffic and is an excellent place to start our trip around the island.

Cagliari airport was inaugurated in 1937. Sixty years later, it was remodeled to project an airport that would allow a stopover in the center of the Mediterranean.

By bus, it makes up to 24 services each day between the airport and the city center (Piazza Matteotti). The trip takes between 10 and 15 minutes and costs 4 euros. The alternative is that the train from the Piazza Matteotti train station reaches the modern airport terminal in ten minutes at a much cheaper price than the bus.

By taxi is another possibility and the price between the airport and the center of Cagliari can cost 10 euros. Another option may be to rent a car at the airport.

Olbia Airport 

Olbia Airport, called Costa Smeralda, has a single passenger terminal.

It is an excellent destination if we want to arrive by plane on the east coast of Sardinia, and especially if the destination is Olbia itself, Arzachena, the Maddalena archipelago or any town on the Costa Smeralda such as Porto Cervo or Arzachena.

How to get to Olbia Airport by public transport

We can get there from the city of Olbia thanks to line 2, which transports passengers every half hour (on weekdays) to the city center. On Sundays and holidays, the bus leaves every hour.

There is also a taxi rank next to the passenger terminal’s arrivals area. Another option is to use the train station, located in the center of Olbia. Bus line 2 regularly connects the airport and the train station.

Olbia airport has a car park in front of the terminal. The first hour costs 1.50 euros, the next two to three hours cost 1.00 euros and, after the third hour, 0.50 euros per hour.

Olbia airport is connected to Barcelona with flights operated by Vueling and offers car rental services.
